With a supportive family, you thrive. In the same light, Hannah Stuelke, the sophomore forward for Iowa, has been an instrumental part of the roster for two years now. While Caitlin Clark is the face of the team today, looks like Stuelke is not shying away from the spotlight either. In fact, remember when she overshadowed the phenomenal guard earlier this year? Against West Virginia, she was the top rebounder with 11 boards while also grabbing 12 points, sending Iowa to the Sweet 16. With some impressive talent, fans are now asking if she comes from a family with a balling background.

Hannah Stuelke is an Iowa native and had always known that she wanted to be a part of the Hawkeyes locker room. Her father, Mario Davis, introduced her to the sport at a very early age. It is said that the native of Antigua and Barbuda played basketball for the Princess Margaret Secondary School in his home country. Later he played in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association. He also played for his country’s national basketball team until 2018. Further, his former wife and Hannah’s mother, JoAnna Mantz, was also a basketball player.

As a collegiate baller at Illinois State, Stuelke’s mother, who stands tall at 6 ft 1 inches, made a significant effort. She also continued her passion for the sport at Missouri Western. The mother and daughter’s love and support for each other is clearly visible as they post many photos together; especially when it comes to celebrating Hannah’s victories as a Hawkeye.

However, family ties were not always easy for the immaculate forward. In fact, their family has seen ups and downs in relationships through the years. Stuelke’s parents parted ways when she was only a toddler due to personal reasons. Nevertheless, both JoAnna and Mario have been the support system for Hannah whenever she needs one.

Hannah Stuelke and her extended family

After JoAnna’s separation from Mario Davis, she remarried Michael Mantz in 2006, when Stuelke was just 3 years old. The Children’s Ministry Director at the River of Life Church, along with Hannah’s stepfather Michael, who is a woodworker, goes to every important game that Hannah plays.

Even though separated, Mario remains a constant in Hannah’s life. But he too has moved on and has a three-year-old daughter, AJ Marie Davis, with his current partner. However, his support for Hannah won’t stop. While it can be challenging to manage relationships and career goals together, looks like Hannah is a natural.
