Less than a month away, the NCAA women’s basketball 2023-24 season carries a special significance. It will be the last college season for LSU’s National Champion Angel Reese and Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. While both will be eyeing for another crown, Paige Bueckers is making it quite a contest with her comeback.
First in line, Notre Dame will compete with South Carolina in Paris, followed by Virginia Tech against Iowa in Charlotte. The non-conference clashes will spark up the opening week. Moreover, the inaugural SEC-ACC challenge will be featuring a few other ranked vs. ranked matchups. There is one more development that’s making things a bit more special.

Recovered from her ACL injury, UConn’s Paige Bueckers will be returning to the court this season. The point guard led her team to the 2021 NCAA Tournament’s Final Four. As a freshman at the time, she also set program records in assists and single-game assists that season. That year, she also won the first-team All-American and became the first freshman to earn a major national women’s college player of the year award.
Paige missed most of her sophomore season because of her left knee injury. However, she did lead her team to the nationals. Eventually, she was ruled out of her junior season with a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament).
Representing the US at the youth international level, Paige has won 3 gold medals – the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Championship, the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup, and the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup, where she also won the MVP award.
In addition, she has also won a Youth Olympic gold medal in 3×3 basketball. In 2019, she was recognized as the USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year. Paige was ranked as the No.1 recruit in her class by ESPN in high school.
The upcoming season is going to witness much more.
