The UConn Huskies have suffered a major blow in the opening month of their NCAA campaign. Their prolific shooting star Azzi Fudd has been ruled out following her ACL and medial meniscal tears in her right knee. Soon after the announcement, fans have come out in support of this young prospect.

Moreover, popular celebrities expressed their sadness about Fudd’s injury. Among them is the current WNBA champion Chelsea Gray and NCAA champion Angel Reese

Azzi Fudd receives tribe support

The heartbreak continues for the talented No.35 of the UConn Huskies as she is forced to miss yet another season due to injury. Following this, she has been receiving lots of love from the basketball fraternity. Three-time WNBA champion Chelsea Gray had a heart-warming message for the five-star recruit: “Sending so much love to @azzi_35.” Apparently, the 5x WNBA All-Star knows a thing or two about making a comeback from season-ending injuries. While representing the Duke Blue Devils, Chelsea suffered from a horrific fracture to her knee which forced her to miss most of her junior and an entire senior year.  

 

The 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Angel Reese also extended her empathy towards Fudd. She prayed for Fudd’s speedy recovery and sent her all the love through her tweet: “Sending all my love & prayers to @azzi_35.”

Apart from Chelsea Gray and Angel Reese, there were many others who showered their love and support for Azzi Fudd.

The heartwarming support and solidarity underlines the space Azzi was able to create with her prowess.

How do experts react to Azzi’s injury?

Emmy-nominated sportscaster Chris Williamson also reacted to Fudd’s injury. He tweeted, “I will give her my knee!! Smh my heart breaks for her. The young lady has been through so much in her college career with getting injured. Praying for her mental well-being.”

Furthermore, popular basketball analyst Rebecca Lobo also tweeted after the announcement: “My heart breaks for this kid.” 

In addition to this, ESPN’s sports analyst LaChina Robinson couldn’t hide her heavy heart for Azzi: “Heartbroken for Azzi. Can’t find the words.”

There is no doubt that Azzi Fudd would have been one of the players to watch out for in this season. But her fans and supporters have to wait for more time to see her in action.
