Dynamic duos have always been a significant part of the NCAA. Every season, some combinations of players emerge to excellence and contribute to their team’s success. Today we are discussing two such duos of Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow vs. Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen, making this season a bit more spicy with their determination, strength and enthusiasm to play, win, and entertain altogether.

A player has to put in a lot of hard work to make a name for themselves, however, it carries more significance when two players make unwavering strides together, moving in a symphony on the court, winning games. Although they are remarkable players in their own way, a debate has been brewing quietly under the surface, so let’s decode and discuss both duos one by one.

Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow

Representing #13 LSU in the SEC and NCAA overall, Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow are some of the most remarkable players on the Tigers roster this season. Enriching their resume, both Reese and Morrow were named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year midseason watchlist. It has been Reese and Morrow’s efforts that have allowed LSU to be one of the top rebounding teams in the nation. Moreover, both of them are leading with 15 double-doubles in the SEC. This score has tied them for #6 in the United States.

Individually, forward Angel Reese is ranking at #2 in the SEC and #28 in the NCAA with an average of 19.5 points per game. Similarly, she is ranking #1 in the SEC and #2 in the NCAA with an average of 12.6 rebounds per game. In addition, she was named SEC Player of the Week for the 10th time in two seasons. Diving a little deeper, this season Reese has played seven games in which she has recorded 15+ points and grabbed at least 15 rebounds.

Moreover, she has played four games in which she has scored 20+ points and 15+ rebounds including the matchup against Alabama where she scored 27 points, 19 rebounds, and 6 assists. Notably, this was her third game at LSU with a scoring combination of 25-15-5. There is no other player in women’s basketball over the past 25 seasons who has scored multiple 25-15-5 games. In all of the 57 games that she has played at LSU, she has scored in double digits.

On the other hand, guard Aneesah Morrow has also been a standout player for the Tigers. Morrow is ranking at #7 in the SEC with an average of 17.3 points per game. Similarly, she is ranked #4 in the SEC and #28 in the NCAA with an average of 9.9 rebounds per game.

Notably, in LSU’s recent game against Texas A&M Morrow scored 25 points and 15 rebounds, registering her 16th double-double of the season. As a defensive pest for the opponents, Morrow has been averaging 2.9 steals per game, hence ranking at #3 in the SEC and #15 in the NCAA.

This forward-guard duo has surely done some impressive scoring that has earned them different accolades, besides making their team proud. Having said that, let’s move on to our next duo and see how they have been doing this season.

Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen

Hailing from #3 Stanford forwards Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen are making commendable strides together this season. Together, their on-court show of force has contributed to their team’s success. Notably, Cameron Brink’s height makes her a visible blocking threat for the opponent team. As a result, she ranks #1 in blocks per game with 3.58, #6 in rebounds per game with 11.8, #10 in double-doubles with 14, and #1 in player efficiency with 50.7.

In her last few games, she has averaged around 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 4.7 blocks per game. However, she has already appeared on the preseason list, giving a reflection of her outstanding performance. So far, she has 383 career rejections and it is not going to be long before she becomes the 17th Division I player with 400 career rejections.

Brink currently ranks #6 in the NCAA this season, shooting with a free throw percentage of 91.7%. Her stellar performance has earned her recognition as one of the top WNBA draft prospects for 2024.

Meanwhile, Kiki’s stance as an NCAA athlete has been of exceptional performance that has made a significant impact on her team. Notably, she is one of the 10 players in the United States averaging 18+ points and 10+ rebounds per game. Leaving the top 25 teams in the Associated Press poll, Iriafen has been averaging 20.9 points and 12.4 rebounds in the last 10 games that she has played.

Evident from her score, Iriafen has shown remarkable improvement from the previous season as she has significantly increased her scoring and rebounding averages this time. And, she has the fourth-best year-over-year improvement in the United States in scoring average with +11.7 and first in rebounding average with +7.

Moreover, she made it to the list of the Top 10 candidates for the 2024 Katrina McCain Award. This season she has been averaging 18.4 points (ranking 45th across the country) and 10.5 rebounds (ranking 14th across the country), shooting with a field goal percentage of 53.7% (ranking at #48).

These two have earned recognition as one of the top players in the country in several aspects, together they are pumping up the game and leading their team towards remarkable success.
