The University of Connecticut Lady Huskies are going strong in the tournament with a 20-5 record. They are placed at the top spot in the Big East, much thanks to their head coach Geno Auriemma. The 69-year-old however is not perfect at everything. Geno was recently involved in a funny moment that evoked a lot of laughter from fans and showed the laid-back side of a revered coach.

Auriemma was called to interview with the ESPN’s Rebecca Lobo before the Huskies were about to catch their flight. And an incident in the interview had the fans laughing hysterically.

What embarrassing moment did Auriemma have?

Auriemma during the interview was having trouble adjusting his phone’s camera. “Listen, all I have is my phone and I’ve 1,2,3,4 books,” Auriemma said after placing the phone’s camera in vertical mode. He also joked that “Power move would be to have this picture right here.” His cellphone’s camera wasn’t able to accommodate the full mid shot of the coach and hence it needed something to stand on, to be able to frame him perfectly.

The video dropped by ESPN was a hilarious one as it was templated on a time-ticking meme. The next caption on the video read “A few moments later. Let me flip it horizontally,” Auriemma remarked referring to getting a landscape mode on his phone. But the camera still couldn’t capture him in a mid-shot. The caption in the video dropped by ESPN on Tuesday again read “A few minutes later.”

Auriemma then started placing his books under the camera so that it matched his eye level. “More books, so that it is not shooting up so much at you, yeah,” recommended Lobo. Auriemma placed some more books but wasn’t able to adjust the frame.

“6 and a half hours later,” read the caption. “Geez, you guys are killing me here,” Auriemma exclaimed after he had placed the phone pointing towards the ceiling. “You could even sit on the floor,” joked Lobo. Auriemma was still having trouble placing his phone at the correct height and he was flipping it vertically and horizontally. “This is crazy,” accepted Auriemma.

The next caption read, “Three days later.” Auriemma had finally adjusted his camera now. And Lobo expressed, “I’ve been told this is beautiful.” “This is?,” confirmed Auriemma as he burst into self-deprecating humor pointing that “The reason you’ve been told that is… because they noticed it’s probably the best you can get.”

Lobo shared a light moment with Auriemma repeating, “This is the best we’re gonna get.” On a serious note, the Huskies will play their next game against Xavier Musketeers.

Who will the Huskies tackle next?

The Huskies have shown exceptional spirit this season but were recently defeated by the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks. But other than a few hiccups, they have performed exceptionally well in the tournament. They would be looking to get back to their winning ways from the next game onwards. With Paige Bueckers by their side, they can be sure of getting excellent results. She has an astounding average of 20 points per game this season. And the Huskies will dominate the tournament if she continues her on-song performances.

Auriemma showed his funny side to the world and demonstrated that a winner like him could also be bad at something. While the coach might take his time getting better with technology hopefully for fans his team won’t take much time before outdoing their opponents on the court.
