“She’s a whole supermodel,” Minnesota Lynx star Dorka Juhász commented on the UConn Huskies baller Paige Bueckers’ NYFW snaps. Bueckers, during the summer, had one of the best fashion experiences. From making her debut for the New York Fashion Week to attending the US Open in probably her best attire, Bueckers won hearts with her glam side wherever she went. However, contrary to what one would expect, the 22-year-old doesn’t sport the same fashion while attending her classes at the University of Connecticut. Instead, she keeps it casual and simple. And in one of her recent chats, she divulged the reason behind the uncharacteristic choice.

The guard sat down with Vogue on Wednesday to shed light on her shocking outfit decisions while attending her classes.

The Minnesota-born revealed that she loves “a good crop top, jacket, and pant outfit,” but dons simple clothes to her college. Describing her style as a mix of “masculine and feminine elements,” Bueckers shared that she likes “patterns, pastels, vests, and cardigans.” But when it comes to her classes, the 2021 Naismith College Player of the Year dresses “very lazy” and can usually be spotted in “sweatshirt and sweatpants duo,” as per Vogue.

Her admission via Vogue shocked many, considering the Husky had recently made her debut for the NYFW and was seen donning luxury brands. She attended events for exquisite labels, such as Tombogo, Who Decides War, Off-White, and Nike. Among many, her butterfly-inspired attire for Off White stole the show. The 2021 John R. Wooden Award winner sported a long black jacket with baggy jeans adorned with multicolor butterflies.

Meanwhile, she wore an oversized white t-shirt and camouflage sweatpants alongside her teammate Azzi Fudd rocking a shirt dress by Tombogo, bringing the mix of easygoing streetwear with style. Whereas for Who Decides War, Bueckers wore a mustard sweatshirt with rugged multicolored jeans. Surely, her summer was filled with mystique brands. And the main person behind her sensational looks was her stylist Brittany Hampton, who she thanked in another section of the chat.

Crediting Hampton for her glam side, Bueckers added that she loves working with her since they understand “each other and she knows what I like, what I don’t like.” Bueckers further added that Hampton knows how to motivate her to leave her comfort zone and “what boundaries to push” before concluding that she also gives the independence to Bueckers to reject her ideas if they don’t go well with her.

Maybe it’s her brilliant fashion sense and exceptional people management skills that have earned Hampton popular clientele, such as Nika Mühl, Sloane Stephens, Russell Westbrook, and Victor Cruz.

But now that Bueckers is back to regular college life, she is dressing as per the occasion. And perhaps she is reserving her best attires for the future when she experiences precious moments in college basketball.
