Which team is gonna land Bueckers? That is a question in the mind of every WNBA analyst right now, as mystery shrouds her professional beginnings. Paige Bueckers, the Huskies phenom, is one shoe in for NPOY honors this year, and everything points towards her going first in the upcoming draft. Even though her preferred destination is LA, Dallas is already starting to build around the UConn star since they possess the first overall pick. Their recent trades have been aggressive and fruitful, even procuring one of Caitlin Clark’s rivals for their roster!
The Dallas Wings have decided to trade away their former Big Ten star! Jacy Sheldon, and the eighth overall pick, are being shipped away to Connecticut to get their hands on Dijonai Carrington. Alongside the five-eleven guard, Dallas also receives the twelfth pick in this year’s draft. Carrington is a good fit for the Wings, as her defensive presence and offensive contributions are immense.
Analysts are loving the move for Dallas, as Paige Bueckers occupies the same role as Sheldon, but she simply does it better.

Jacy Sheldon has had a tough start to her WNBA career, struggling to convert her game to the pros. Even though she is only averaging about 6 points a game on inefficient shooting, the potential is there for every team to see. Which is probably why the Sun wanted her in their roster. Both Sheldon and Carrington have had their run-ins with ROTY Caitlin Clark, and it’s exciting to consider the two new-look teams against the Fever. It will be interesting to see how this trade pans out for all parties concerned.
Jacy Sheldon and DiJonai Carrington’s history with Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark is a powerful, polarizing presence in the WNBA. The Indiana Fever star shone brightly through her entire rookie year, even finishing 4th in MVP voting. Her competitive fire, praised by the best of the best, means she leaves it all on the court.
Naturally, great and competitive players don’t always get along with each other. Such is the case of DiJonai Carrington and Caitlin Clark. In a close matchup against the Sun, Caitlin Clark drew a foul on Carrington on an inbound pass, and the Sun player was having none of it.

On the other hand, Jacy Sheldon’s run-in with the former Hawkeyes phenom came in college. In a major overtime upset, the 18th ranked Ohio State beat out Iowa, who were one of the top teams in the country. Sheldon was instrumental in their triumph over the CC-led team, putting up 24 points, with 16 coming in the second half.

Caitlin Clark certainly has her work cut out for her this coming year. Having to deal with old rivals, as well as new competitors joining the fray will not be easy, but the Fever star will have to figure it out! The WNBA keeps on growing every single day, and fans are all for it!
