Will Paige Bueckers be the savior the Dallas Wings desperately need after a dismal season?

The Dallas Wings have won the first pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and the city can’t wait for next season to come around already. UConn Huskies superstar Paige Bueckers, largely expected to be the No. 1 pick in 2025, is the perfect new blood that the Wings need to improve on their disappointing 9-31 season. And the ticket sales for the next season in Dallas are already proving the love for the blue blood guard.

Two days ago, it was reported that the Arlington-based team had completely sold out of their Season Ticket Memberships for the next season. It happened for a second consecutive season but this time, the feat has been achieved five months before the season even starts. Now, another report indicates that the prices of the Wings games have gone up significantly!

A recent post on Instagram by Just Women Sports details the exact $50.49k difference between premium rates as well as starting ticket prices from before and after the news of Paige Bueckers. The then vs. now chart shows the leap in dollars but the sellout has still happened, even with increased prices!

The difference in the total from then and now comes to $50.49k, a massive rise in greens! While the beginning of the 2024 season was riding on the Caitlin Clark hype, the Indiana Fever did not capitalize on the most famous women’s basketball player. These two were already rivals in the SEC and given Paige ‘Buckets‘ does not play a sixth season and enters her name into the draft, the WNBA will be more exciting than ever.

In a mock draft created by The New York Times, the UConn redshirt senior fits in perfectly in the current Wings roster with her variegated skills. Playing at different positions throughout her career has not affected her playmaking ability and Dallas currently needs someone in the backcourt alongside Arike Ogunbowale, who better than the Huskies’ elite scorer?

But while the former co-Freshmen of the Year will heat up the league possibly next year, will Bueckers confirm her WNBA eligibility with one more opportunity to grab the hardware under the winningest NCAA head coach Geno Auriemma? Or accept the Dallas Wings, for that matter?

Paige Bueckers is not “thrilled” about Dallas, per one journalist

Assuming that Paige Bueckers doesn’t go for another year in college basketball, will the WNBA be a priority? Her rookie contract will earn her much less than what NIL has been doing so far, and let’s be honest, there are many fishes in the sea out there currently. Journalist Sabreena Merchant shed light on the issue recently, revealing how the Huskies star might not want to play in Texas.

“I have heard some rumblings that Paige isn’t thrilled about going to Dallas. I do wonder what sort of leverage she might use in this case because Paige makes a lot of money through NIL. More than she’s going to make on a rookie contract. It’s not as if she needs the WNBA,” Merchant said on Hoffman Women’s Sports.

Moreover, Bueckers has previously shown her desire to team up with the lottery picks Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson in the LA Sparks, hinting that the City of Angels might be a great vibe for her. Not to mention the latent feud between Ogunbowale and Auriemma that goes back to the Wing guard’s high school days when she did not include the Storrs program in her list of possible college choices.

If the UConn Huskies finally win that national championship they’ve been coveting for so long, Paige Bueckers might not have anything left to prove in her college career. In fact, it would only make her more desirable to teams in the W, increasing her legend. But whatever the ultimate decision will be, only 2025 could tell us.
