In the world of basketball, Kiyan Anthony’s name rings with potential. The 17-year-old has already shown the basketball world that he is following in his NBA icon father Carmelo Anthony’s footsteps. His skills this summer at Peach Jam, SLAM Summer Classic, and Rod Wave were quite the evidence. However, during a recent 9,301 km faraway trip to Tokyo, it wasn’t a hoop-related achievement that stole the spotlight. Instead, a fun moment in a Baskin Robbins led to a surprising and slightly embarrassing revelation about his mom, La La Anthony.

During a candid moment captured on Overtime’s latest video featuring Kiyan sampling Baskin-Robbins treats in Tokyo, a member of the cast revealed that the popular ice cream chain was actually her first employer. “Fun fact: La La’s first job ever, Baskin Robbins,” said the cast member.

As soon as this was revealed, the 17-year-old hooper jumped on the opportunity to know why she was fired from her first job. “Cause we were stealing ice cream. That was maybe like my second job. But my cousin Dice got fired first. We were taking home pints of, pints of ice cream,” said La La in the video.

La La grew up in Brooklyn, New York, with her own set of challenges. She started her first job at Baskin Robbins, earning some extra money at 15 just to help support her family. Though it wasn’t in the middle of Hollywood and the NBA sidelines, every minute she spent there helped to set her up with the work ethic and the mantel to never give up. While scooping ice cream might not be the most glamorous gig, it taught La La that humility, grit, and perseverance are important.

I was probably like 15-16 at the time. So, getting all kinds of odds and ends jobs; Baskin Robbins, Marshalls. I had like 100 jobs, but I was like, I gotta help my mom ’cause I was like, ‘I don’t like how this feels; not being able to get certain things,” said La La during an interview with Charlamagne Tha God.

Today, her story serves as an inspiration. From working an entry-level job as a teenager to becoming a beloved figure in entertainment, her journey is a testament to the power of hard work and staying grounded. Her rise to fame includes hosting on MTV, acting roles in hit shows like Power, and building her own production company. According to Celebrity Net Worth, La La Anthony has amassed a $30 million net worth.

The story serves as a testament to La La Anthony’s journey from ice cream server to media mogul, proving that success isn’t about where you start but where you’re determined to go. Now Kiyan is keeping on his father’s legacy and also continuing his mother’s inspiring story of not giving up and figuring out how to grow. And it is quite understandable why Kiyan listens to his mother so much.

So, I think I just created that bond from love with Kiyan but at the same time he still understands I’m his mom first,” wrote La La.
