It’s a double win! As always, Notre Dame was eager to shine against Loyola (Maryland). When the Fighting Irish stepped onto the court, they dominated, as expected. While Notre Dame is often recognized for rising star Hannah Hidalgo, another name reminded us who truly represents the heart of the Irish. Who else could it be? Olivia Miles!
During Notre Dame’s dominant 97-54 victory over Loyola Maryland, Olivia Miles achieved a historic milestone, recording the fifth triple-double of her collegiate career with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. This remarkable feat not only makes her the all-time leader in triple-doubles in the program’s basketball history but also highlights her as the first player—man or woman—in the program’s 128-year existence to reach this mark.
Launched in 1896, Notre Dame’s basketball program has never seen a player as versatile as the junior guard, solidifying her status as one of the nation’s most dynamic talents.

But Olivia Miles isn’t just a standout for Notre Dame—she’s a unique force in collegiate basketball.
“I thought Liv did an incredible job of leading us. She had a triple-double—her passing was phenomenal. She made some passes I’ve never seen in my entire life. It was so amazing,” shared Coach Ivey in the post-game conference.
“Her leadership, her being a general on the floor, I thought she was fantastic. She did a great job settling us in, showing poise, and leading us to victory,” the Notre Dame HC further added.

Olivia Miles (@oliviamiles06) is not human. 18pts, 11 reb, 10 ast.
It’s her fifth career triple-double. No one in #NotreDame MBB or WBB history has more.

The coach’s words ring true. Miles is the only player in the country averaging at least 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists per game. Above all, she has even surpassed the gold standards set by Arike Ogunbowale. Even the WNBA All-Star MVP never achieved something as unprecedented as Miles’ record.
Despite Olivia Miles’ achievement, Arike Ogunbowale is no less of a legend

In fact, she remains a record-holder like no other. She became the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,626 points and holds numerous other records, including single-season scoring (849 points), career-made field goals (954), and most 20-plus-point games in a season (27).
Known for her clutch performances, Ogunbowale’s iconic buzzer-beaters in the 2018 NCAA Final Four remain unforgettable moments in college basketball history. Her scoring dominance and consistency still set her apart as one of Notre Dame’s greatest players. Now when you compare Ogunbowale’s dominance with Miles’ achievement, you’ll measure the importance of her recently nailed record.
Well, her triple-double record stands out because of its rarity. But it’s not just Miles who is excelling.

The Fighting Irish are having a remarkable season, boasting the nation’s best three-point percentage (45.5%) and showcasing a dominant fast-break game. Standout performances from Hannah Hidalgo, who scored an impressive 33 points in their latest game, complemented Miles’ leadership.
As Notre Dame prepares to begin Atlantic Coast Conference play, the team’s synergy and depth make them strong contenders. What do you think—will Olivia Miles and the Fighting Irish continue to dominate this season?
