The phrase double-double is no stranger to the name Reese. Ever since Angel Reese’s days in college and then in the WNBA, the 22-year-old has established herself as the double-double queen. In fact, the Chi-Town Barbie created history by recording 15 straight double-doubles in her rookie season in the W. Now stepping into the same shoes is Angel’s younger brother Julian aka Juju Reese, who delivered a ground-breaking performance in Maryland’s 108-37 rout against Canisius.
Before the game reached halftime, Reese had already put out a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins. At that point, the Terrapins boasted a 59-14 lead as Reese’s teammate Selton Miguel added 13 of his 15 points to the total score. Nevertheless, Reese ended the night with 20 points and 12 rebounds, most by anyone on the floor on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old senior went a staggering 8-9 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line. His superstar sister also shared a snap on Instagram from the game of Juju and their mother along with a couple of other family members. It looks like double-doubles run in the family blood.

Last season, Juju Reese carried on his sister’s double-double legacy, posting 15 double-doubles throughout. So, despite this being his first of the season, he is expected to continue with it. Adding to the hype is the fact that it was Maryland’s second-largest margin of victory (71 points) in the program’s history.

The last time something like this occurred was in December 1998, when the Terrapins beat down North Texas by 75 points. Previously, they surpassed a 100-point mark when they registered a 105-65 win over Alcorn State in December last season. Just like this, the Terrapins have claimed 19 consecutive victories against unranked nonconference teams.
Surely Reese is chasing the NBA dream strongly this season. And who better than his sister for some wise words to consider?

Last week, Juju Reese had a game where he came close to recording his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 9 rebounds. It was after this eye-catching performance that Angel Reese sent a message to him on social media.
She advised him not to get ahead of himself and remain grounded. Her thoughts were reflected in her words when she wrote, “Consistency in (key),” in one of her Instagram stories, where she also shared his post-game interview.

Juju has a year left in college to prepare for the NBA. Besides, different scouting sites have been predicting that he will either be a second-round pick in the draft or will begin as an undrafted rookie. As a player, his strengths lie in his rim protection skills, combined with defensive versatility and athleticism.
And now that he has caught on to the legacy, it is hoped he will maintain this momentum through the season.
