The road to March Madness is heating up, and the battle for supremacy is more intense than ever! With the postseason fast approaching, two teams have emerged as clear favorites, Johni Broome’s Auburn and Cooper Flagg’s Duke. But that’s not the only showdown brewing! But for a National reporter, there’s another one quietly making waves.
Often overshadowed by the star power of Auburn and Duke, the Crimson Tide are proving they deserve just as much attention! Hence, Analysts are keeping a close eye on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and for good reason!
With just three losses all season which has taken their overall record to 18-3. And a 7-1 record in the SEC, they are proving to be one of the toughest teams in the nation. The voice of basketball, Scott Van Pelt, recently joined The Field of 68: After Dark podcast to share his insights on this season’s top contenders. He said, “It’s hard not to land on Auburn(as the favorite to win ) as well, I do really love Alabama.”
With an average three-year revenue of $19.3M, according to Forbes, Alabama aren’t just thriving financially, they’re proving to be one of the most consistent programs in college basketball. After losing in the Final Four Game against the eventual winners, the UConn Huskies, last season, the spirits in the dressing room are high for the Nate Oats-coached team and they will be hoping to finish the job they couldn’t last season.
He continued, “I guess because of the way they play with pace and their ability to get streaky that it could feel like you have them right where you want them and they’re just laughing! because it’s like cool you are up by six by the next TV timeout you could be down eight. Their (Alabama’s) ability to avalanche you, just to be a dissenting voice, I think the depth of that team…!”
Scott Van Pelt’s comments give you an idea as to why Alabama are currently being considered as one of the favorites to win ahead of the likes of Cooper Flagg’s Duke and Johni Broom’s Auburn. The simple reason is their unpredictability and momentum-shifting ability. That is what makes them such a dangerous threat in March.
As the countdown to the NCAA championship run intensifies, Cooper Flagg and his Duke Blue Devils have their job cut out for them as they know they’ll be up against some of the very best very soon, and due to their weak ACC conference, they won’t have enough quality opponents to help them prepare. Despite that, they have to keep on winning to maintain their good standings as they prepare for their next opponent.
What’s next for Cooper Flagg and his team?
The Blue Devils are out to silence the doubters as they gear up for a high-stakes showdown against the struggling Hubert Davis’ North Carolina Tar Heels at the legendary Cameron Indoor Stadium. With ESPN giving them an 89.3% chance to win, Coach Jon Scheyer’s squad is eager to make a statement and prove they’re true March Madness contenders.

Scott Van Pelt’s comments about Alabama’s unpredictable, fast-paced play show just how dangerous they are, making them a formidable threat in March for the championship at San Antonio. While Cooper Flagg and Duke are gearing up for a title run, Alabama’s ability to shift momentum and dominate quickly could put Flagg’s squad to the test as the March Madness unfolds!
