The Montverde Academy decimated the DME Academy by a blowout margin of 76-31 this Saturday. It was the first game of the Eagles at home after a long gap. The last they played at their home court was on December 2. Therefore, a lot of their fans were keen to witness a spellbinding victory and the Montverde just did that.

Furthermore, the match was so gripping that a heated moment between Cooper Flagg and Moustapha Thiam got a lot of attention.

Both Flagg and Thiam were seen playing central roles for their team. While Flagg’s dunks were exceptional, Thiam could be seen getting aggressive against Flagg when the latter was guarding the basket. Thiam succeeded in potting the ball with his dunk and subsequently, he gave a roaring gesture in a gush of emotions. An equally competitive Flagg didn’t hold back as the Montverde Academy created open space for him, and he too dunked basketing the ball in the next instance.

Flagg was then seen giving it back to the 7-footer with a similar roar. The two were also seen having a heated chit-chat during the game. Though none of the two took on each other physically, things seem to have gotten heated and entered an altercation mode.

Flagg was on his feet and quick thinking as he blocked a ball from another of the DME athletes and responded to him again with the same aggression.

It is moments like these that demonstrate how much athletes love to perform for their teams and how combative the game can get at times. In the end, it was the Montverde Academy that had the last say as they emerged victorious.

How did Montverde Academy perform?

They have four players who stood out with their exemplary display. Their guard Caleb Gaskins and forward Derik Queen dropped the team’s highest 15 points in the game. While Gaskins showed his prowess in shooting with 7-for-12 from the floor, Queen smashed his third double-double since he nabbed an exceptional 14 rebounds.

Flagg too was pretty close to having a double-double since he thrashed 14 points with 9 rebounds. Nonetheless, he would be looking to give his best in the next game. The fourth player who left a mark in the game was their guard Kayden Allen. Allen just touched the double figure in points. The high number of rebounds from the MVA proves how the game was equally attacking from the other end, but the Eagles subdued their opponents.

The Eagles shot 46% from the field whereas the DME could only shoot 22%. This made a stark difference in the results. The Eagles right from the first half had their advantage since they sloshed 46 points in comparison to the DME’s 28.
