The home team got themselves ahead in the initial minutes of the first quarter. Clark along with Stuelke and Gabbie Marshall caused early troubles for Buckeyes. Moreover, some amazing passing from Iowa’s stellar No.22 caught Ohio State off guard. At the same time, sophomore forward Hannah Stuelke upped her game and was the first player to go past double-digits. Meanwhile, Ohio State’s No.4 Jacy Sheldon was closely following Stuelke with her 9 points. Despite matching Iowa’s 50% accuracy from the 3-point range, the visitors found them trailing 28-19 by the end of the first quarter.

While Caitlin inched closer to breaking Pete Maravich’s record in the second quarter, Ohio State was trying its best to bridge the gap. A scintillating display of logo 3’s by Clark had the Carver–Hawkeye Arena on its feet. On the other hand, Jacy Sheldon and Celeste Taylor had some tricks up their sleeve as well. They took the fight to Iowa by perfectly landing consecutive beyond-the-arc shots. Following this, two free throws due to technical fouls hands Caitlin the opportunity to go past Pistol Pete’s magical number of 3,667. Without a surprise, she buries both attempts successfully and enters the record books at the stroke of half-time. In the meantime, Hawkeyes hold on to their lead halfway through the game at 48-39.

The tug-of-war continued after the first half as both teams were trying to make the most of the offensive opportunities. However, it was Hawkeyes who had the momentum and started to capitalize on their home conditions. The efficiency in their field goal attempts (23 of 44) along with some accurate 3-point shooting had them in total control just before the penultimate quarter.

It was all too much for Buckeyes in the final quarter. Despite their best efforts, they weren’t able to contain Caitlin Clark and Co. Consequently, they ended the fixture by being on the losing side.
