NCAA Men’s Basketball action will kick off in Week 3 as we see a massive intra-state clash. The Texas State Bobcats will take on the Texas Longhorns in a quintessential game.

Texas State are 3-1 so far this season, while the Longhorns are 4-1. As a result, the Longhorns are actually one of the 25 teams ranked by the Associated Press, coming in at the 13th spot. Their only loss this season came at the hands of the Villanova Wildcats, who only triumphed by a small margin of 4 points.

Texas State aren’t as glamorous a program as the Longhorns, but they do have a solid basketball team this season. However, this is by far the hardest challenge they have come across in the early season.

So can they manage to pull off an upset against the higher-ranked and more fancied Longhorns team?

NCAA Men’s Basketball: An imminent win for the Longhorns?

The one thing that college basketball reminds us every year is that no win can be taken for granted. This holds even more weight this season, as the COVID-19 pandemic has made it hard for teams and coaches to work together as often. But the Longhorns aren’t the kind of team to look past opponents.

The Longhorns are one of the best defensive teams this season, and the Bobcats are going to struggle to score. They already had a low-scoring 51-point game against Mississippi State, despite them not having the same tools as the Longhorns. If they come out motivated, the game could be over as soon as it starts.

The Longhorns are expected to line-up with Matt Coleman III, Courtney Ramey, Andrew Jones, Jericho Simms, and Greg Brown. The Bobcats will put forth Shelby Adams, Marlin Davis, Mason Harrell, Alonzo Sule, and Isiah Small.

As for the final prediction, it is quite simple. The Longhorns will win this game to ensure they go into their game against Baylor later this week with momentum on their side.

You can’t get momentum if you lose the games that everyone expects you to win, so the Longhorns should be penciled in to win this one.
