NCAA Men’s Basketball action will see the number twenty-one ranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights face the Maryland Terrapins. Rutgers will want to retain this spot on the rankings against the Terrapins, who have enjoyed their fair share of success leading up to this game.

The Terrapins are currently 4-1, losing their only game of the season to Clemson University in their last outing. It was a 16-point loss and facing the ranked Scarlet Knights isn’t the best game for a rebound. Especially considering Rutgers is still undefeated this season, sitting with a 4-0 record. But this season is having its fair share of issues.

Rutgers is not a traditional powerhouse in the NCAA landscape. However, last season’s strong finish has propelled them into relevance. A win here could solidify them as a top-15 program in the country. The Terrapins would have been on the verge of being ranked, but the Clemson loss has set them back.

But who will win this crucial mid-December encounter?

This battle may not be as easy to predict as many would expect. Even though Rutgers is undefeated and ranked, Maryland isn’t that far removed from them. This will be a stingy defensive battle, considering Maryland is one of the best defensive teams in the country. Considering they are also hosting this game, they should get a slight advantage.

However, Maryland has a hard time making shots consistently. There are few teams better than Rutgers at rebounding missed shots. This will be a very interesting clash, as both teams could be considered at almost even odds to pull off a win.

Maryland will start the game with Donta Scott, Darryl Morsell, Aaron Wiggins, Eric Ayala, and Galin Smith. Rutgers will take the floor with Ron Harper Jr., Montez Mathis, Cliff Omoruyi, Paul Mulcahy, and Jacob Young.

For our prediction, we do believe Rutgers keep their winning form going. They are solid defensively, play a very up-tempo offense, and can out-rebound almost any team. It will be a task for the Terrapins, coming off a loss, to win this game.
