Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers have been one of the stories of the season so far. They started off as the 11th-ranked team in the preseason, but now? They’re sitting on top of college basketball, looking every bit like a title contender. Pearl and his squad have one goal—bringing that elusive first championship to Auburn. But if history has anything to say about it, the road to glory might not be as straightforward as it seems!
A week before the season began, Mark Titus dropped his Final Four predictions. His list? Duke, Alabama, UConn… and St. John’s. Yeah, you read that right! St. John’s, a team that wasn’t even ranked in the preseason, made the cut ahead of the Tigers, and there’s a good reason why.
On The Mark Titus Show, Titus explained why Auburn didn’t make his Final Four cut. He kept is as simple as possible, saying, “Auburn’s not had a great run of NCAA tournament since they went to the final four in 19′.”

Auburn and deep NCAA Tournament runs? Yeah, that’s not exactly a love story! Since Bruce Pearl took over in 2014, the Tigers have only made it past the second round once, that magical Final Four run in 2019 where they had wins against Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky only to lose against Virginia. Outside of that? Just a bunch of early exits.
That being said, with the way Auburn has been tearing through teams this season, there’s every reason to believe Bruce Pearl will be able to lead the Tigers back to the Final Four. That is why, Titus even notes, “ I have had a lot of doubts, but this year obviously not as much.”
And guess what? Jon Fanta is predicting the exact same thing!
Bruce Pearl and his Tigers are making it to the Final four- Jon Fanta
Jon Fanta has high hopes for Auburn this season. On the Field of 68: After Dark podcast, the analyst didn’t just predict a deep run, he straight-up guaranteed it in Charles Barkley style! “I guarantee that Auburn will be in the Final Four. They’re going to make the Final Four.”

The oddsmakers too have their favorites locked in! Auburn, Duke, Houston, and Florida followed by Alabama and Iowa state are bookmakers’ favorites to qualify for the Final Four this season! All six teams are looking like serious contenders, with odds at +320 or shorter!
Auburn still have 4 games left with three of them against ranked teams. Bruce Pearl knows the job is far from done and will definitely be hoping to improve his team’s shooting performances which has lately dipped. They only shot 27.3% from the three point line in their win against Georgia and they know in order to make a deep run into the NCAA tournament they need to smoothen it all out; distort Mark Titus’ list in the process.
