Apart from coming off as a surprisingly great insight, Wilson’s answer also proved how a more confident stand behind the product helps companies in the long run. Her fans can only look to improve their business brands now that her trade secret is out.

“The best business lesson that I’ve learnt is that you can’t please everyone. And I think that goes on in the business and in real life. You really can’t please anyone. I’m literally taking it from somebody that is trying to sell people a scent that they can’t smell but they trust me… And people like ‘I don’t like this. Can you take it out of this?’ And I’m like ‘No, just move onto another candle.’No one’s ever going to have everything that they want… You can only show what you have and hope that people gravitate towards it,” Wilson remarked.

Wilson launched the luxury candle business in 2021 along with her mother Eva. As the story goes, the idea of starting a candle business first came to her mother who saw a lot of candles during Christmas, and advised her daughter on starting the same. She had named the new venture ‘Burnt Wax Candle Company’. The name in itself makes one aware of the product. The highlight of the venture is that it is a vegan wax company and specializes in selling remarkably lasting candles as per Post and Courier.

She has named the candles after her achievements such as the “National Champion,” “Rookie of the Year,” “All-Star” and “MVP”. The former Gamecocks star also sells accessories related to candle burning. As per The Minority Eye, her first batch of candles was sold out the very same day it was first released in April 2021.

Notably, for her business acumen Wilson was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2021. And her marketing sensibilities are well evident even in the endorsement she chooses.

What does Wilson look for in endorsements?

As per the same podcast, Wilson regrets that she “missed” out on NIL deals since they were introduced much later after she had passed out from college. But also pacifies herself by enumerating that with them she “would have felt like I’m just constantly working.” As for brands, she chooses those that “workaround” her. And she has signed some major contracts with the biggies like Nike, Coca, and Statefarm.
