Born in Zachary, LA, Chris is a talented two-sport athlete from Zachary High School. He made his mark in both football and track and field, showcasing his exceptional athleticism. Chris earned four-star ratings from 247 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN, reflecting his standout talent. Ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in Louisiana and No. 54 nationally by 247 Sports, he quickly earned recognition as one of the country’s top young athletes.

During his junior year in 2019, Chris put up impressive numbers with 43 catches for 846 yards and 11 touchdowns. One of his most memorable moments came a year earlier as a sophomore, when he turned a screen pass into a crucial 80-yard game-winning touchdown, sealing Zachary’s 5A state championship victory over West Monroe in 2018. As a result, Chris earned a spot on the prestigious Sports Illustrated All-American 250.

In addition to football, he showcased his speed and athleticism in high school track and field, excelling in sprints and the high jump. Chris stood out as one of the nation’s best high jumpers during high school. As a senior, he won his third 5A Louisiana Outdoor state title with an impressive jump of 6’7.5”. The talented athlete also showcased his versatility on the track, capturing the 2021 5A state title in the 400 meters with a blazing time of 47.50 seconds.

Chris was seen as a promising athlete as the Louisiana native joined the LSU Tigers in 2021, As a true freshman, Chris saw action in four games during the season, earning his first career start in LSU’s victory over Louisiana-Monroe. He made his collegiate debut against UCLA but was sidelined for much of the season due to a lingering injury. However, he returned to the field in late November and contributed to LSU’s final three games of the year.

He played in four games in his redshirt freshman season, making one start against Mississippi State. In the home opener against Southern, he had a career-best performance, catching 5 passes for 47 yards. He followed that up with 2 catches for 62 yards, including a 51-yard reception, in LSU’s win over New Mexico. Unfortunately, an injury kept him out for the final 10 games of the season.

Chris wrapped up the 2023 season with a strong performance in the ReliaQuest Bowl, recording 3 catches for 56 yards and a touchdown in LSU’s win over Wisconsin. Throughout his career, Chris has played in 19 games with 4 starts, recording 22 receptions for 415 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Known for his big-play ability, he has established himself as a threat on the field, with 5 of his 22 career receptions covering at least 40 yards. With just one year of eligibility remaining questions loom around whether Chris would enter the NFL draft or return to LSU for one final stretch.

LSU had high expectations for Chris Hilton in 2025, especially with Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. heading to the NFL. Hilton was expected to step up and fill the big-play role they left behind. However, an injury kept him sidelined for much of 2024, and he faced challenges getting back into rhythm once he returned to the lineup.
