Dan Hurley has been married to his wife Andrea Hurley since 1997. Danny was born in 1999 and Andrew in 2002. Danny, too, completed his graduation from Seton Hall where Dan and Andrea met. Dan explained his role as a father was important and wanted to stay with his sons as long as possible. “I stayed in high school coaching longer than I needed to for Danny Jr. and Andrew, I wanted to be a parent that gave them love and time, to set an example for them,” Dan told FOX Sports. “I did the Little League games, the Pop Warner, and the CYO matchups. That all meant something to me.”

Also speaking of the bond he shares with his children, he said they are his world. “I don’t have a lot of friends, to be honest. Andrea and my boys are who I have, and they’re my world,” Dan told FOX Sports in January 2023.

Danny graduated with a degree in history in 2021. Even though he has not followed a basketball career, Dan is proud of him for choosing his career path. He took to Instagram to appreciate his son’s journey. He wrote, “So proud of the man that you are becoming….so impressed with how much you have matured these last 4 years, We are alike in so many ways and now we share this as fellow Pirates…Love you my man!

After graduation, Danny started working as an aide to the governor in New Jersey. Since 2023, he has been working as a legislative aide in the Senate President Scutari, per his LinkedIn. Andrew decided to follow his father’s path and has been playing for UConn.

Andrew continues the legacy of Hurley’s on the basketball court

Andrew plays as a guard for the Huskies. He joined the team as a walk-on during his freshman year. He was asked if he felt any pressure being from such a legacy family. “Yeah, it’s definitely hard not to acknowledge the basketball family that I come from,” Andrew told CTInsider in April 2023.

Thanking his family for being supportive and helping him realize that there is a world outside the game too “But no, I don’t feel any pressure, really. It’s hard to when you have such a supportive family around you, and they do a great job of reminding how much they love me … so it doesn’t really bother me at all.”

Dan shared his side too, as he feels strong and emotional at the same time seeing his son alongside him. “To go through basketball with him, it’s really powerful and makes me emotional,” Dan told FOX Sports. He feels thankful that he can share the journey through the highs and lows with Andrew. “There’s been times where I think about the journey in this sport, and the fact I can share in that with my boy now, you just hug your son and cry tears of holy s**t in those moments.
