The Maine event at Duke continues to go from strength to strength. In his latest display of brilliance, Flagg powered the Blue Devils to a hard-fought 63-56 victory over Wake Forest. When the team struggling in the second half, Flagg shined brightest, dropping 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting and proving once again why he’s in the discussion for the National Player of the Year.
The Blue Devils are riding high with a flawless 9-0 record in ACC play and an impressive 19-2 overall record, earning them the No. 2 spot in the latest AP poll. Their only setbacks this season? Close battles against ranked Kansas and Kentucky. Head coach Jon Scheyer will be hoping to continue this momentum as he looks to guide his team to a NCAA championship.
Having guided his team to an Elite 8 last season , Scheyer hit the jackpot when he managed to recruit Flagg and will be hoping Flagg’s impact on the court can drag the Blue Devils to finishing line. While analysts do consider Duke to be one of the favorites to win the competition , there are doubts about their qualities due to the fact that they play in the ACC which lacks top-tier competitors and can be a chink in the armor for the Devils.

While doubts about Duke’s credibility may hold some weight, it’s worth noting that Auburn’s only loss this season came at the hands of the John Schyer led team. The Blue Devils are well positioned to challenge for the championship as long as key players like Cooper Flagg stay fit.
