Creighton Bluejays guard Marcus Zegarowski is easily one of the best players on his team this season. He has been instrumental in helping the team be a force in the Big East, as the Bluejays currently sit second in their conference. With a spot in the NCAA Tournament all but sealed for the Bluejays, the future is now the big question.
While Marcus will most likely be back for his senior year next season, he knows how life-changing entering the NBA can be. He saw it happen with his older brother, Michael Carter-Williams. MCW was the 2014 Rookie of the Year and had one of the greatest debuts in rookie history. However, MCW has struggled in the league, but has reached his eighth NBA season.
Marcus spoke about how it was to play with his elder brother and his influence on his career.

“I didn’t play much one on one with Michael because he was 7-8 years older than me. I’d never beat him, now would be a better time to play.”
Zegarowski added, “Having a brother like him to push me, say I’m weak, a baby, or trash. Growing up, it made me stronger, made love the game more and made me competitive. That’s where people see my competitiveness come from.”

Creighton Bluejays: Will MCW’s influence help Zegarowski in the NBA?
The Bluejays are a top team this season, primarily due to Zegarowski. His 15 points and 4.4 assists are important for the team, and he is the genuine glue behind this team. However, he doesn’t have the raw talent his elder brother had.

MCW dominated early in his NBA career in almost every facet of the game. Despite being drafted 11th in 2013, MCW went on to win Rookie of the Year. However, his career fell off a cliff in the seasons since, but he is enjoying a career resurgence with Orlando Magic.
Hopefully, Zegarowski can reach the NBA level as his brother did. While MCW was once looked at as the next big thing, his brother will have tapered expectations whenever he decided to enter the league.
