As per Reveille, Reese set up a record to become the only player to reach a milestone of 34 double-doubles in the season. She hit the double-double mark in all of LSU’s six Tournament Games.
The 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player also broke Sylvia Fowles’ record of highest consecutive double-doubles at the season’s commencement. While Fowles has 19, Reese topped the list with 23. Her double-doubles led her team to an emphatic 23 wins. Post her double-doubles Reese basketed 16 points and 4 rebounds in a game against the South Carolina Gamecocks which the LSU lost by a heavy margin of 64-88.
Reese also grasped an SEC record for having the most rebounds in a season with 555 rebounds. She fell short only by eight rebounds of the NCAA record holder Natalie Butler – 563 rebounds.
Though Angel Reese was nowhere near Kelsey Plum’s record of the most points in NCAA history (1109), she had done considerably well when she basketed 830 points which made her the third-highest scorer in an individual season in the LSU’s history.
Reese played her maiden game for the Lady Tigers against the Bellarmine Knights. She potted 31 points to become the player with the highest points for the LSU in her debut.
Reese was instrumental in taking her team to a humongous victory of 88-42 against the Lamar Cardinals. While showing her caliber, she became the only player in the NBA, WNBA, women’s NCAA and men’s NCAA history to pocket at least 30+ points with 15+ rebounds, 4+ assists, and 4+ steals. She did achieve the feat while having a shoot over 80%. This did register her among the greats of the game.

Hunger for Glory
Reese did not only achieve heights for the LSU, she also did so for her previous college team – the Maryland Terrapins – by becoming the first sophomore to average a double-double since 1975.

Reese also tipped off the LSU record for having the most points in game, tying with Marie Ferdinand (34) and the most rebounds in a contest (24). Her game for rebounds stood at the third-most in the NCAA Tournament history.
