The dust has settled and the South Carolina Gamecocks have done it! Achieving their second title in 3 three years with a perfect 38-0 season, head coach Dawn Staley wins her 3rd championship after being with South Carolina since 2008-09. Clark started this year’s final on a hot steak. Breaking records by scoring 18 points in the first 10 minutes. Thus becoming the most points ever scored by a player in a single quarter of a championship game. During the second quarter, she could muster only 3 points.

Caitlin Clark failed at the same hurdle just like last year when the Hawkeyes lost to the LSU Tigers. Angel Reese took the spotlight light last year not only for her performance on the court but her taunts toward Clark too.

After the first quarter This time out, Angel Reese took to Twitter to celebrate and congratulate Dawn Staley. Her message also could be a dig at her arch-rival Clark. She wrote “I’m sooo happy for @dawnstaley!! As a black women, I admire what you’ve done! You always checked on me & always loved me like your own! ❤️

After losing out to the Hawkeyes, The Tigers forward announced her decision to enter the WNBA draft with help from Vogue. Clark is still expected by many to be the overall #1 pick but Reese is not far behind as she could definitely be the #1 round pick in the draft. Her announcement came after the Elite 8 exit. During the Final Four game too Reese questioned a controversial call that was in favour of Iowa.

Reese wrote on Twitter, “wait was that screen not set clean?” Though the UConn player Paige Bueckers clarified “Everybody can make a big deal out of that one single play, but not one single play wins a basketball game. … There was a lot of mistakes that I made.” Taking the onus on her shoulder rather than complaining about the referees.
