The Arizona Wildcats Women’s basketball team ate dust after going toe-to-toe with the Beavers. Both teams tied up their scores in the first quarter with 14 points, however, the Wildcats managed to take a 4-point lead as the Oregon State Beavers trailed at 11 points. Moving on to the 3rd and 4th the lead again hopped back and forth between both teams, only to get stretched into overtime. But this did not end there, the Beavers’s guard Talia Von Oelhoffen pushed it hard with her 3-point shots, leading her team to a 73-70 victory.

Although the Wildcats have been performing remarkably well, they did fall to the Oregon State Beavers. Now, let’s learn more about this magnificent guard who fought to live another day in the season.

The Gill Coliseum echoed with cheers as Talia Von Oelhoffen, the Oregan State Beavers’ guard slammed back-to-back shots, pushing the Beavers to a close yet significant 73-70 win over the Arizona Wildcats on Friday.

The junior guard has been performing remarkably well at Oregon State. This season, Talia has been averaging 10.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1 steal, and 0.5 blocks per game. Moreover, she has been shooting with a field goal percentage of 42.2% which includes a 3-point field goal percentage of 32.1% and a free throw percentage of 87.5%.

In her freshman season, she averaged 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, with a field goal shooting percentage of 44%, which included 43.4% of 3-point field goals and 81.5% free throws. That season, she was selected for the All-Pac-12 team.

Despite having an injury in her sophomore season, Talia played through, starting 24 out of 26 games, earning All-Pac-12 honorable mentions. That year, she scored 13.2 points (ranked 2nd in points), 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. She became the preseason All-Pac-12 choice straight for the second season.

However, the guard started shining even before she came to Oregon State. Notably, she was a 5-star recruit and was also ranked as the #14 player across the United States by Prospects Nation.

While the Beavers are rising above in their game, however, last week they had a new reason to be happy.

Von Oelhoffen touching a new milestone

Last week, Oelhoffen achieved a new career milestone as the Beavers defeated The Southeastern Louisiana Raegan Bears with a 92-69 victory. In the game, Von Oelhoffen scored 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. More importantly, the matchup became significant as Von Oelhoffen crossed the 1000-point mark of her career.

Also, the Beavers out-rebounded SLU in that game by a 38-22 rebound score.

As the season is brewing to be ruled by underdogs, this is one more accolade registered as a remarkable one.
