Mark Pope may have won an NCAA title as a player, but his tenure as a head coach had been tough. He got his first win in the Big Dance after 10 years. Not with Utah Valley Wolverines, not with BYU Cougars, but in 2025 with the Kentucky Wildcats. Now hopes are that Pope will make Kentucky great again by making a deep run into the playoffs. Pope’s best hope? Koby Brea’s shooting prowess.

While the Wildcats were looking for an additional offensive option in the backcourt, Koby Brea was a perfect fit. The move has been a game-changer for him and the Kentucky Wildcats as well. Brea, a top 30 recruit in high school, showcased mastery over the range shooting and the youngster excelled with a 49.8% 3-point shooting average, ranking among the NCAA’s best.

But the New Yorker is not only about shooting. His entertaining games and tenacity are a crowd puller. Whenever Brea thrives on the court, there is a buzz in the crowd, big numbers on the scoreboard, and a ‘W’ for the Wildcats.

On Sunday, Brea helped Kentucky qualify for the Sweet 16 for the first time in six years with a team-high 23-point performance in the 84-75 victory against Illinois. “I feel like God has a plan for this team,” Brea said after the game. “We’ve gone through a lot this year. We have faced a lot of triumphs. A lot of people didn’t think we were going to be here. This is a testament of what God has done for us.”

Koby, who is eligible for the 2025 NBA draft, will be looking to continue his form with the Wildcats and a deep run would increase the possibility of him landing a higher draft pick. As of now, here is how his performances helped him commercially with NIL deals.
