Reactions have been pouring in ever since LSU lost at home to the Gamecocks. The disappointing loss didn’t go well with the fans, as they were expecting the Lady Tigers to end South Carolina’s unbeaten run. While it was a neck-to-neck match, the visitors taking it home did not seem to be the exact outcome that anyone was wishing for.
To add to the disappointments, Mulkey also couldn’t hide her disbelief following the loss. Clearly, she wasn’t pleased to let down 13,205 in attendance.

After the match ended, Kim Mulkey interacted with the media to share her thoughts on the loss. However, if there is one thing Kim is known for, it would be her brutal veracity. While she couldn’t thank the fans enough for their overwhelming support, the 61-year-old also dropped a major reality check. Mulkey said, “First of all, I’d like to thank the fans because they showed out. I hope they appreciate the effort… but we’re just not tough enough yet, & they are. They outrebounded us in the second half. This game is not a half, not a quarter, you have to do it the whole game.”

No denying, this is what makes her one of the best coaches to step into the NCAA realm. She not only made the fans feel seen but also showed them the flaws that her team just may still have. This is something that the Lady Tigers will have to conform to and work on. Nevertheless, Kim proves yet again that a coach who does not underestimate the opposing team is always going to be the best one.
In the meantime, let us discover where the Tigers lost their game.

Whether it is the skills or sheer luck, LSU just may have had a tinge lack of both yesterday. Looking closer at the match stats, South Carolina performed better in every aspect even though they were lagging behind for straight three quarters. When it comes to the percentages, LSU showcased a decent 44.8% field goal, 33.3% three-pointer, and 44.4% free-throw percentages against the Gamecocks. However, South Carolina was marginally ahead of them in every factor. Similarly, the Gamecocks also had a couple of rebounds more than the Tigers.
In the end, South Carolina took the victory home. This also means that they continue with their undefeated streak for another team. Evidently, LSU still remains weak on their defensive front. Nonetheless, we are sure that Mulkey will tame the Lady Tigers to improve where they lack. Fans would love to see them come on top again on 30th Jan against Mississippi State.
