Recently, T-Bob Hebert & Jacob Hester invited the national championship-winning coach on their podcast ‘Off The Bench.‘ Mulkey said more about the infamous altercation, “I don’t call it a fight. Dawn said it best you know. Things like this happen. She wasn’t going to get on her players, so I certainly wasn’t going to get on my players for anything. It just happened. You keep playing and you move on.”

Soon after this enticing contest ended, the Gamecocks’ boss Dawn Staley issued an apology. Apparently she addressed the basketball community on behalf of Kamilla Cardoso’s antics. Further, she also added that emotions got the better of her players. On the other hand, Mulkey wasn’t pleased about Cardoso manhandling Johnson like that. In the post-game press conference, she said, “It’s ugly, it’s not good, no one wants to be a part of that. But I’ll tell you this, I wish [Cardoso] would’ve pushed Angel Reese. If you’re 6-8, don’t push somebody that little. That was uncalled for in my opinion. Let those two girls who were jawing, let them go at it.”
Meanwhile, South Carolina’s senior center has also come forward with her apology.

Kamilla Cardoso’s apology
Soon after Cardoso was penalized and faced suspension, she took to X and regretted her actions. She posted, “I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for my actions during today’s game. My behavior was not representative of who I am as a person or the South Carolina program, and I deeply regret any discomfort or inconvenience it may have caused. I take full responsibility for my actions and assure you that I am committed to conducting myself with the utmost respect and sportsmanship in the future.”
Things are bound to get heated when these two fiery coaches are in the same building. Dawn Staley may have won both the encounters but LSU know very well how to settle their scores. Consequently, fans will be hoping they meet again this season.
