Kim Mulkey at a baseball game as March Madness is about to begin? As surprising as it sounds, that is what happened last weekend. Before she leads the LSU Tigers against the Rice Owls on March 22nd, the 61-year-old decided to flex her muscles on the diamond. Anyhow, Mulkey, who has had numerous altercations with officials in the past, had to leave the field sooner than everyone expected.

This unexpected and hysterical turn of events transpired at a Savannah Bananas baseball game in Baton Rouge. Consequently, Mulkey’s first-ever pitch turned out to be quite a memorable occasion for those present at the Alex Box Stadium. After receiving an honorable introduction from the announcer, the Lady Tigers boss marched her way to the middle amidst a thundering roar from the crowd. Subsequently, she centered herself to launch an intense pitch toward the catcher.

Unfortunately, her pitch barely missed the inside corner. Following this, the standing umpire Vincent Chapman refused to call it a traditional “strike”. This didn’t sit well with Kim Mulkey as she outrageously shouted towards the umpire, throwing some dirt on him on the way.

The seemingly heated verbal altercation continued between the two for some time. This compelled Chapman to issue a technical foul on Mulkey. However, the arguing didn’t stop, which brought the second technical resulting in her ejection moments later. Moreover, the umpire’s call received massive boos from the spectators. At this time, the Dancing Umpire decided to call off the gag and acknowledged Mulkey by raising her hand in front of the crowd.

Mulkey has had many spats with the officials on the basketball court throughout her career. The Savannah Bananas just decided to use that to create a memorable moment in front of hundreds of fans. Interestingly, one of Mulkey’s intense altercations happened just a few months ago.

Kim Mulkey’s earlier send-off

Earlier this season, Mulkey was involved in another infamous incident with the umpires. In LSU’s thumping 81-36 victory over the McNeese State Cowgirls, some eye-catching drama unfolded on the court. An offensive foul on Aneesah Morrow in the final moments of the game ignited some overwhelming aggression. So much so that Angel Reese and Mikayla Williams had to intervene in order to calm her down. As it turned out, her continuous shouting from the bench resulted in her ejection from the PMAC before the final buzzer.
