JuJu Watkins’ USC Basketball Grateful for Kobe Bryant and Family in Ultimate Surprise

With the USC women’s basketball season on a roll, Vanessa Bryant’s fresh surprise made the entire squad tearful. The gesture implied how much Kobe Bryant cared about women’s sports and how well his better half is honoring her husband’s legacy. The rise of superstar JuJu Watkins is seen as a natural course of this support system.

The Trojans are already building a reputation for themselves. At 8-0 so far this season, the USC women’s basketball team has been playing at a high level. And as a school backed by Kobe Bryant family, they were surprised with unique footwear.

JuJu Watkins’ team gushes over a surprise

USC will carry on the Bryant family’s heritage, and fans can see why the young players were overjoyed to see these sneakers. In a presser, coach Gottlieb even insisted that the new footwear aren’t snakeheads, but have piqued the squad’s interest.

Coach Gottlieb also spoke emotionally about Kobe’s heritage of supporting women’s basketball, as well as what the sneakers signify: “I think a lot of times about the people who cared about it before it was the thing, and you all know who have been around here, like—Kobe cared about it before it was the cool thing to care about women’s basketball. I think one of the greatest things is to leave a legacy, and I think that is one of his legacies. Women’s basketball matters. Vanessa and their family have done an unbelievable job of trying to say, ‘How do we keep this going in Gigi’s memory and Kobe’s memory for women’s basketball.'”

USC has shared this news on their Instagram page as they expressed their heartfelt gratitude for Bryant family: “I am incredibly grateful for the Bryant family and the @mambamambacitasports foundation. @coachlindsayg shared a message with the team before receiving the custom USC Kobes.”

Trojans upholding Bryant’s legacy

The late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant’s wife sent USC pairs of Nike Kobe 6 performance vintage “Reverse Grinch” sneakers before the start of the new collegiate basketball season. Bryant’s daughter, Natalia, is a junior there as well.

The bright red sneakers with neon green laces elicited enthusiastic responses from the team.
