Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes were looking to create history against the South Carolina Gamecocks at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Ohio. The much-anticipated game saw various celebrities grace the arena to show their support to the women giving it their all on the court. Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis went a step further and decided to put not just women’s basketball but women’s sports in the spotlight.

Sudeikis was spotted with Darius Rucker and Robin Roberts as the three greeted each other ahead of the game. Sudeikis had come to cheer for Clark in their last game and wore a t-shirt that read “Everybody watches women’s games.” The clip of the same was posted on X by Sports Reporter Mark Woodley.

As per Hawk Central, Sudeikis held his hand in front of his face much like John Cena’s “You can’t see me gesture” after the game as a way of getting back at Angel Reese, who taunted Clark with the same gesture during the last season’s National Championship Game. His first Iowa game in person was in early December when he was present with the WNBA veteran Sue Bird in the Carver-Hawkeye Arena against Bowling Green. And Sudeikis surely seems to be the lucky charm for Clark since they have been winning in the NCAA tournament.

A disappointing end to a historic season for Caitlin Clark & Co.

Clark started off strong along with her teammates as the scoreboard read 10-0 in favor of the Hawkeyes. Iowa’s No.22 went berserk in the first quarter, scoring 18 points but by the end of the quarter, the Gamecocks had inched closer to the Hawkeyes, trailing 20-27. Nonetheless, Clark and her team looked charged up and in control of the situation. In the next quarter, the Gamecocks stifled Iowa’s offense and went into the break 3 points ahead.

South Carolina continued their great defensive effort as they allowed only 29 points in the 2nd Half, also stopping Clark to just 9 points. While she finished with 30 points, the Gamecocks emerged victorious 87-75 to lift their 2nd title in 3 years.
