The No.10 ranked USC is turning the heat on in the Pac-12 Conference. The Trojans earned another commanding victory over the visiting Arizona State Sun Devils with an 18-point margin. USC’s wonder kid JuJu Watkins was again the standout performer as she grabbed 31 points along with 7 rebounds to seal the deal for the home team.

However, JuJu’s mesmerizing basketball was not the only reason to keep head coach Lindsay Gottlieb on her toes all night. Apparently, she was excited to see “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis in attendance for the game.

A sold-out Galen Center witnessed the Trojans control every aspect of the match and secure an 81-63 Friday night. Moreover, this was the first home game for the explosive No.12 JuJu Watkins after her freakish display at Stanford last week. Watkins had a very dull first half as she was able to score only six points and just had 25% efficiency in her shots. It was perhaps at this time that the crowd got a first glimpse of Jason Sudeikis in his blue jumper and probably Gottlieb reminds Watkins of the “Ted Lasso,” pregame inspiration.

The freshman guard came out all guns blazing in the second half. She kept the home team with her impeccable skills and pinpoint accuracy. The defenders had absolutely no answers for her tenacity. Her control over her speed and the way she made variations in her pace completely swept Sudeikis off his feet. Meanwhile, Lindsay Gottlieb couldn’t have been more glad that Juju made her awestruck moment more special. After the game ended, Gottlieb said, “I’m totally starstruck, I was excited to see him here tonight.”

Currently, the Trojans are placed fourth in the Pac-12 Conference behind Stanford, Colorado and Oregon State. In the 21 games played so far, they have 17 and lost only four. Moreover, they have been formidable at home having won 11 out of their 12 games. Anyhow, they have mixed fortunes playing away from home with a 50% win record. In the conference play so far, they have 7 victories in their bag at the moment.

A star-studded affair proved to be lucky for Lindsay Gottlieb’s crew. As the tournament progresses to the business end, the plans seem to be working for USC as they are getting the desired results. Consequently, fans will be hoping that their form continues and they display such resounding performances in the upcoming games.
