During the game against Washington State, the Trojans suffered their eighth loss of the season, with a score of 72-64. USC faced additional challenges as they were shorthanded and shot only 37.9% from the field. The star freshman, Isaiah Collier, sustained a right-hand injury and was unable to complete the game.

With 12 minutes remaining and USC trailing by two points, Collier left the court after committing a foul and handing the ball over. However, he later returned to the bench with his right hand wrapped in ice and a brace. According to an official diagnosis from USC, Collier suffered a right-hand contusion. Coach Andy Enfield declined to provide further details about the injury after the game. It seems that the star player is likely to miss 4 to 6 weeks of action.

Collier has shown remarkable mobility and playmaking skills, but he struggles with outside shooting and turnovers. He scored 26 points and had four assists in a 14-14 win over Stanford. received the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor earlier. With Collier out for the next month, USC may struggle to establish itself in the Pac-12; nevertheless, Boogie Ellis can handle most of the ball handling and scoring responsibilities.

Who is likely to fill Isaih Collier’s place?

Following Collier’s injury, guard Bronny James of USC is anticipated to get more playing time. Bronny has only scored two points in the Trojans’ last two games, despite being one of the team’s top three guards and being in good shape.

But Bronny’s meager scoring output is not a true reflection of his whole contribution on the court. Bronny might show off his scoring prowess and improve the team’s performance even more with additional playing time. This season, James has averaged 17.0 minutes per game, 5.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
