At a time when the LSU Tigers are facing media trial over their missing superstar, Hailey Van Lith has stepped forward as their guiding light. But the Tigers and their fandom worry as rumors of a possible injury now surround Van Lith. With the LSU star player, Angel Reese being sidelined from the games with no solid reason, and Coach Kim Mulkey calling this a ‘Coach’s decision,’ the Tigers have been already out of rhythm. And now a new dark cloud looms over them.

Without Reese, the Tigers just managed to get their team chemistry back. They’ve won all their matches so far without their star player. But the Lady Tigers faced a new challenge during their latest match casting shadows over their forward march. 

Hailey Van Lith injures her knee

The LSU Tigers v/s Virginia Cavaliers was a highly anticipated game, as two of the strongest teams went head-to-head against each other. But, a moment unfolded during the last quarter of the game which had the whole crowd go silent. 

With only 8 minutes and 28 seconds left on the clock, the LSU was leading the game with a score of 61-56. The ball was in possession of the Tigers as they headed towards the opposing team’s basket. The feeder passed the ball to Hailey Van Lith. 

Van Lith dribbling across the court tried to make her way to the basket with her incredible skills. But, within a blink of an eye, she was seen lying down on the court and in visible pain, as she sprained her knee during the play. The game was stopped so the officials could take care of the situation. And after a talk with Coach Mulkey, Van Lith was guided back to the locker room. 

While the fans and teammates thought Van Lith was done for the day, she came running back to help and play with her team, with only 7 minutes and 7 seconds left on the clock, leaving everyone in awe. Despite this comeback, there has been no official news by her or Coach Mulkey on the severity of the injury. Fans now anxiously wait for an update while praying for Hailey’s recovery, hoping to witness her return to action on the court.

The Lady Tigers overcame the setbacks

The Tigers are showing the world why they are the No.1 team in the league. With their star player out, they bounced back with style and statement. But out of all the players Hailey Van Lith is the one who stands out the most.

Even after spraining her knee she came back in the game and led her team to a victory with a final score 76-73. Playing a crucial role in the win, Van Lith dropped 12 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and made 5 assists. Even in their game against the Niagara Purple Eagles, she put on a show for the fans, as she scored 20 points, secured 2 rebounds, and had 7 assists.

While, without playing Reese is hurting the team, Van Lith and Aneesah Morrow are acting as the backbone of the team, leading the Tigers to back-to-back wins. So far, the Lady Tigers have played eight matches and won seven of them. The only loss they have recorded till now was their season opener against the Colorado Buffaloes.
