Spectators at the Alice P. McDermott Convocation Center were in for an intense night. The Texas A&M took over Incarnate Word yet again within a month, winning by 76-72 this time. However, the fiery competition was not even the highlight of the night. Instead, the heated brawl right after the game was what will, perhaps, be remembered when the game is mentioned.

While the exact reason for the physical fallout is still not known, it has become front-page news. Here is what happened tonight at the matchup between the Commerce Lions and the Cardinals.

The San Antonio crowd reserved their seats for a very interesting match. Texas A&M, who earlier hosted the Cardinals and handed them a road loss with 71-66, were now invited to the competitor’s house. However, their game plan was clearly better as they won by a close gap of just four points. Although the match ended in good spirits, the celebration did not last long. According to a video posted by The Field of 68: After Dark on their YouTube channel, the two teams could be seen getting on to each other.

What happened next? An altercation while shaking hands at the end of the event. No one knows why the fight escalated so quickly. But, it is evident that the players had to be separated by force. The authorities later emptied the court. Both the teams were high on emotions as they had a close game. Texas A&M players brought home the win by showing a decent offensive game as their field goal accuracy of 41.3% and 3-point percentage of 40% were better than the Cardinals.

Further, Alonzo Dodd who secured 20 points, and Kalen Williams who got the lead to the Commerce Lions with his 3-pointer were the best performers. Nevertheless, Incarnate Word gave a tough competition as well.

The Cardinals go down fighting

Despite getting the upper hand in most offensive and defensive departments, the Cardinals could not pull off a win. Nevertheless, some players on their roster did showcase a performance that kept them close to the visitors. In fact, the offensive efforts by Josh Morgan bagged 18 points for the Cardinals. At the same time, Alex Anderson’s versatile personality brought 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists to Incarnate Word.

Physical altercations can be serious to the players and the fans and are not the best practices to be followed. However, it cannot be denied that the soaring sentiments can sometimes result in a tussle. At the end of the day, the fight was averted from getting serious which is of course the best for both Texas A&M and Incarnate Word.
