The Tigers couldn’t get their groove on throughout the night and ended up on the losing side for the second consecutive time at home. A terrific exhibition by two of the star Illinois ballers saw the Fighting Illini conquer Missouri at home. Illinois was clearly the better team in the opening half. Senior Forward Quincy Guerrier and 6′ 6″ guard Terrence Shannon Jr made a mockery of Missouri’s defense with some assistance from Coleman Hawkins. The three of them combined to cause some serious headaches for the home team and kept the Illini in front. Their efficient shooting from the field resulted in them scoring 42 of the 49 points in the first half.
Things got closer in the second half. The Tigers showed some fight as they were neck-to-neck with the visitors in scoring. Nonetheless, Illinois were in total control as they didn’t let the game slip out of their hands. Apparently, Terrence Shannon Jr dictated the game from both ends of the floor. Moreover, Quincy Guerrier’s impeccable shooting skills had the Enterprise Center on its feet.
