Angel Reese is known for her bold attitude and unapologetic personality. But the Bayou Barbie also has a soft nurturing side when it comes to showing compassion. Although an ambitious one, she does know how to take a defeat in full grace. Recently, the LSU Tigers went to battle with the South Carolina Gamecocks and ended up facing a 70-76 defeat.

Although this loss has brought some gloom to the Tigers, especially Angel, however, she is humbled by her mother standing tall as her constant support.

Angel Reese admires her mother’s support

In her recent Instagram stories, Angel has shared a picture with her mother with a heartfelt caption, “Thanks for always having my back! I Love You!” The message came after the LSU Tigers fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks in a 70-76 defeat.

Angel has often credited her mother for her accomplishments as Angel Webb has always been a significant influence on Reese’s career. During her childhood, Angel’s parents ended up getting divorced and she and her brother Julian were raised by their mother. Her mother’s single parenthood played a major role in shaping Angel’s personality and career.

Angel’s athletic perspective grew stronger as every Sunday she grew up watching her mother play in the local league. This became the source that inspired Angel to pursue a basketball career and also instilled in her a sense of independence in every way.

Engaging in intense games with Julian, Angel nurtured her competitive spirit. In addition, these games also developed her mental toughness as her sibling didn’t want her to be better than him. As a result, this competitive spirit is reflected in Reese’s games.

Gamecocks not backing down

Notably, the Tigers did perform well, but they couldn’t stop the Gamecocks drive past them, maintaining their non-stop winning streak as the No.1 team in college women’s basketball. Although the Tigers made impressive contributions to the team’s collective score, however, the Gamecocks flooded points and kept their lead.

Notably, Angel hooped 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Similarly, Aneesah Morrow contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists with Flau’jae Johnson scoring 10 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist. Keeping it close in score Hailey Van Lith and Mikaylah Williams contributed 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists respectively.

On the other hand, the Gamecocks forward and the game’s leading scorer Chloe Kitts hooped 14 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist. In addition, center Kamilla Cardoso added 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Similarly, Te-Hina Paopao bagged 12 points and 6 assists, while Raven Johnson hooped 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Hence, the defeat at the hands of the No.1 team has given the Tigers a reality check and motivated them to refresh their strategies to advance better.
