The Lady Tigers are all set to begin the defense of their NCAA championship trophy against Rice University today. The 14th-seeded team shouldn’t pose much of a problem for LSU. Nevertheless, the Lady Tigers are planning cautious moves in the single knockout event. Following the same, their enigmatic forward Angel Reese talked about their mindset going into the March Madness. Consequently, she also opened up about her growth throughout the season and how LSU is performing.

Angel Reese has collected several individual titles since her freshman year. Now, she is focusing on bringing the team their second consecutive championship. In a pre-game interview with Tiger Bait, LSU’s powerful No. 10 spoke about aspects that can influence their performance.

She said, “I don’t really care about points and stuff like that. Of course, in order to win I’m going to have to contribute and rebound I know that.” Reese continued, “Being able to do whatever it takes to win is just something that has always been important to me.”

The 2024 SEC POY also discussed her own game. “My stats are important obviously because when I don’t have a really good game, we can possibly potentially lose. I just try to do whatever to win.” The interview also talked about what the Lady Tigers had been through this year and how all the adversities like different lineups, missed games, and losses, have improved them as a team.

Angel Reese definitely put some really good perspective on what the Tigers fans can expect from them. They also had a conversation about how to get a deep run in this March Madness to repeat last year’s heroics since Albany 2 is a tough region.

The 2× SEC All-Defensive Team player mentioned that understanding everyone’s role in the team is essential for a successful tourney. She also added, “Everybody’s on the same page right now and we’re jelling at the right time so it’s fun when you’re winning.”

While the Bayou Barbie is surprised at how fast the championship has returned and they are now the defending champions, she is excited to be here with LSU to wreak havoc once again. Further, the Tigers have enormously improved their defensive game this season, giving them an even better chance of moving at a fast pace. It will be worthwhile to see how they play today and what the results will be.
