The Gonzaga Bulldogs are widely expected to be the best team in college basketball this season. Despite their successful last season, Gonzaga managed to stay strong for this year’s campaign. Most of their stars have returned to the program, and they have made one major freshman addition.
The Zags got five-star recruit Jalen Suggs, who many consider the top prospect in this freshman class. He seems to be living up to the bill after his explosive first two games in the NCAA.
His teammate Drew Timme spoke to Jeff Goodman to reiterate that the hype around Suggs is very real and should be so.

“He’s a great guy to be around. On the court, he is the real deal. People should buy into the hype and a lot of people have hyped him and were like ‘well, is he the real deal’. He is the real deal and he is going to be a huge part of our success this year for sure.”
Suggs has averaged 18 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds per game on 63% shooting. This is a great return for a freshman, and his production has further increased expectations for the Zags.

Gonzaga Bulldogs elevate Suggs and win a title?
Right now, it is hard to not have Gonzaga coming out as champions. Obviously, it is way too early and they even have to go through some COVID issues. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs coming away with two impressive wins over Power 5 schools bodes well for their ceiling.
As for Suggs, everyone knows that he will most likely be heading to the NBA soon. Suggs is currently competing with the other players that will get drafted with him, and thus he needs to show that he is the undisputed best.

Beating a ranked team in Kansas and then beating a dangerous Auburn team are positive signs for this team. Suggs and his production are further proof that this team may be very scary all season long, and stopping them will certainly be a problem.
