One such rising star who promises to uphold the legendary status of the sport is the 16-year-old Koa Peat whose training schedule is considered similar to that of the NBA legend LeBron James.

For the unversed, Koa Peat is a power forward who plies his trade for the Perry High School. The basketball prodigy is a consensus five-star recruit who gives his all for the game. Coached by Sam Duane Jr., Koa is highly competitive and doesn’t like losing a shooting contest, even with his elder brother.

Peat received scholarship offers from Arizona State when he was only in eighth grade and later received another one from USC before he started high school.

During his freshman year, Peat averaged a whopping 15 points with an astounding 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He shared a camaraderie with the Colorado Buffaloes star Cody William to help his team win the first class 6A state championship.

Additionally, during his sophomore year, Peat improved his game by pocketing an average of 19.7 points per contest with 3 assists per game and 9.4 rebounds per match. Thus, Peat also won the Gatorade Player of the Year award 2022-23.

How is Koa Peat reminiscent of LeBron James?

Peat is known for following a strict training schedule where he wakes up at 4:30 AM and practices with coach Kenny. He toils hard and makes sure to nail his shots.

Kenny teaches Peat the right technique while shooting and helps him understand the intricacies of the game.

Peat considers the NBA legend LeBron James as his inspiration and works as hard as the NBA champion. Peat was also elated when he saw his hero during one of his games, advising and motivating youngsters to give their best.

As per Wrangler News, Peat was scouted by an elite AAU team that was directly related to LeBron James. As per Balance the Grind, LeBron too wakes up at 5 AM and follows a strict schedule, and considers sleep as his most important part of recovery. 

“I’m a good shooter but I believe that I have to be a good shooter to get to that next level,” states Peat. “This is me shooting a free throw and LeBron’s watching me. That’s actually my goal. There’s actually a crazy story, I heard him coaching from the sideline. Like he was telling people what to do and like it was working.”

Who are Koa Peat’s competitors?

Koa Peat seems to amassing a big fan following like his peers Bryce James and Cooper Flagg. While Bryce is LeBron’s younger son, Cooper Flagg is considered to be another star in the making.

Both would be eligible for the recruiting class of 2025 and have received their fair share of public attention. With Koa Peat’s emergence, the NBA would be full of competitiveness and top-class skill, as all three might battle against each other at the highest level.
