Is Paige Bueckers the future face of women's basketball, or is there someone better?

Hardly anyone would argue that Paige Bueckers is the next big thing approaching the professional basketball sphere. A potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, the 22-year-old is the top collegiate athlete for UConn at the moment. Perhaps this is the reason why she is among the top-earning basketball players in the NCAA. With her latest NIL commitment to Breanna Stewart’s women’s basketball league, Unrivaled, taking her net worth north of a million, who knows what’s next in store for her? She chose to provide a slight idea of what her supporters can expect in the future.

The WNBA resumed after a lengthy Olympic break. The Commissioner’s Cup champs Minnesota Lynx faced off against the Washington Mystics yesterday. Anyhow, the 7,224 in attendance had an NCAA representative in the form of Paige Bueckers who was there to extend her support to former UConn teammate Aaliyah Edwards. But, Play-by-Play broadcaster Sloane Martin got her to spare a thought or two on her recent collaboration with Unrivaled.

She responded, “I’m super excited to be a part of something that’s helping me grow in the game. Just building my investments, building my ownership. Just trying to build wealth and build my brand.”

This development came to the surface earlier this month. Apart from being a part of the league, Bueckers also enjoys equity privileges. “I definitely think the return on investment will be huge. I think this league is gonna do great things”, Bueckers said while making it official. “Unrivaled is going to be a huge thing with people watching during the offseason of the WNBA.”

This association already has started reaping benefits for the 2021 USBWA National Player of the Year. Evidently, her valuation saw a $385K surge soon after she decided to become a part of the league. Meanwhile, she also sheds some light on UConn’s upcoming NCAA journey.

Paige Bueckers reflects on her final UConn season

Recurrent injuries have curtailed Paige Bueckers’ rise as a force to be reckoned with at the college basketball level. Nonetheless, when the time came so that she could make the most of her full healthy off-season, the No.5 didn’t back down. Consequently, that is laying the foundation for her to bid adieu to the program in style.

“We’re just looking to have fun”, she said while expressing her thoughts to Martin. “This is my last season of college basketball so I want to enjoy it. Being in the moment, stay present and give it all I have. Looking forward to be out there with my teammates and coaching staff and just having fun.”
