Hannah Stuelke was an important figure in the Iowa Hawkeyes’71-69 Final Four victory over UConn. The 6-foot-2 forward poured in a game-high 23 points on a 9-for-12 shooting day. With the spotlight firmly on Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. Stuelke made sure to remind the crowd of what she was capable of. Earlier in February she scored 47 points against Penn State. The forward knocked down 13-of-21 free throws.
Chad Leistikow on his Twitter shared “Hannah Stuelke said she got drug tested by the NCAA last night and didn’t get to sleep till 2:30 a.m. Kate Martin jokes “Surgery pending” after another shot to her nose vs. UConn.”

The Hawkeyes showed a lot of character after being down at the halfway mark. UConn started the game with purpose and was 12 points ahead but Iowa got it down to 6 points. Bringing control back was the priority and they did that as they ensured their turnovers were reduced to mere 4 times comparing 12 in the first half.

Caitlin Clark scored 21 points nowhere near her best, but scored 15 of those during the crucial second half. Which included 3 three-pointers to give her and the Hawkeyes the much-needed boost. She also contributed with nine rebounds and seven assists. Kate Martin too played a major role in helping the team, scoring six points in the fourth quarter and 11 in the game. She took a heavy blow on her nose and was bleeding.

It was supposed to be Paige Bueckers vs Caitlin Clark. Both star players found it difficult to make their presence felt the way fans are used to. Yet Bueckers scored 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting, including 3-of-8 from 3-point distance.
