One of the catalysts behind their domination is the explosive No.11 Tyler Kolek. The 21-year-old has been an unstoppable force for them in the tournament so far.
He led the No. 8 Marquette to come back from their previous game loss at Wisconsin to decimate Texas 86-65. Apparently, the 6 ft 3 stole the show by giving one of the best performances of his career.

The Marquette Golden Eagles are back to winning ways as a result of a dominant show put on by their senior guard Tyler Kolek. The All-American showed no mercy and singlehandedly blew away the 12th-ranked Longhorns at Fiserv Forum. Tyler was unstoppable throughout the night and ended up scoring 28 points and eight rebounds along with six assists. The Texas defense had no answers to his athletic prowess and speed. Moreover, he had a tremendous control over the ball as he was able to dribble and pass effortlessly.
Tyler made a resounding start to the opening half as he was able to score 16 points, five rebounds and three assists. His accuracy and efficiency from the 3-point range helped Marquette gain a 14-point lead by the end of the first half. Furthermore, he converted 11 out of his 16 field-goal attempts and was 4 out of 7 successful three-pointers. Tyler carried on his supremacy in the second half as well and had a 45.7% precision of the 35 attempts from deep. Also, he was able to tackle any challenge coming his way from the opposite camps by providing assistance to the team’s rim protection.

Tyler Kolek started his career with the George Mason Patriots in 2020. He had a decent campaign with them as a freshman averaging 10.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

Following this, he was drafted by the Golden Eagles in 2021. In his junior season, he averaged 6.7 points per game with 5.9 assists per game at the Big East Conference. As a result, he was adjudged the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. Furthermore, in 2023, he was the Big East Player of the Year and a junior in 2023 First-team All-Big East.
Tyler Kolek is on his way to becoming one of the biggest names in college basketball. He has carried on from where he left last season and so far holds a double-digit average per game. However, we will have to wait and see what else he has to offer in his upcoming games.
