Lisa Bluder’s journey at Iowa has been nothing short of remarkable dedication. As the all-time winningest coach in the history of the program, Bluder has led the Hawkeyes to 17 seasons and 16 postseason appearances, including 12 NCAA and 4 WNIT spots. Her leadership has advanced the Hawkeyes to 8 NCAA appearances in the last decade. Bluder’s 369 wins at Iowa has surpassed Hall of Famer coach C. Vivian Stringer’s record of 269 wins when she led the Hawkeyes from 1983 to 1995.
Significantly, her support and guidance have always been cherished by her players as she keeps them locked in like her family. Speaking of which, married for 38 years, Lisa Bluder has nurtured a close-knit family of five with her husband David L. Bluder. Besides being a remarkable coach, Lisa Bluder is a caring and loving mother of three – Hannah, Emma, and David Jr.
Hannah Bluder
Lisa welcomed her first daughter, Hannah, in May 1997. Hannah pursued a degree in sports and recreational management with business as her major and completed her graduation from the University of Iowa in 2020. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports administration from Northwestern University. Staying by her mother’s side, Hannah has been an active part of Iowa’s basketball program as the director of operations.
Serving in her position for the fourth season, her job is to closely collaborate with Iowa’s basketball staff and supervise and manage daily operations. Her duties also include planning the team’s activities and travel, supervising public service opportunities for the team, organizing summer camps and training tables.
Talking about Hannah’s athleticism, she is a member of the University of Iowa women’s rowing team. Her dedication to rowing reflects her devotion to physical fitness and teamwork. Hannah embodies the personality of a versatile athlete as, during her time at Solon High School, Hannah actively participated in basketball and soccer alongside rowing.

After two and a half years of welcoming Hannah into her life, Lisa got pregnant with her second daughter Emma and gave birth to her in May 2000. Like her elder sister, Emma too attended Solon High School and completed her studies there in 2019. Last year, she completed her graduation from the University of Iowa. Emma has blended her beautiful voice into singing the National Anthem at various Hawkeye matchups. However, her interests are a bit different.
Her pursuits in athletics are not as popular as her sister’s. But does enjoy playing golf with her friends. Moreover, her interests are highly invested in the fashion world and academics. She launched a fashion-related page where she would share pictures of herself dressed in casual yet trending outfits. Emma’s life journey is a perfect blend of education, creativity, and personal growth.
David Bluder Jr.

Now, moving on, let’s meet the youngest of the Bluder family born in 2002. David Bluder Jr. is the youngest child of Lisa and David Bluder. He plays as a guard for the Grinnell College men’s basketball team.
Walking in his sisters’ footsteps, he too attended Solon High School where he received several honors including first-team All-Conference, Substate All-Star, and Academic All-Conference, and led the team to a 21-3 record while averaging 14.5 points and 3 rebounds per game. Moreover, he shot 47% from the field, 39% from beyond the arc and 75% from the free throw line. He also excelled in academia as he graduated with a Gold Academic medal at Solon. His college basketball career statistics include 595 points, 92 rebounds, 27 assists, and 12 steals.
