We are just over a week away from March, and Dan Hurley and his UConn Huskies haven’t looked like champions this year. Upset losses to Seton Hall, Villanova, and Xavier showed the mettle of the team under pressure. Although they are on the quest for the ever elusive three-peat, it doesn’t seem likely from the way they have been playing. Not only that, but Coach Hurley has grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons this season.

The former champions were expected to make a large impact in this year’s tournament and have failed to do so. Losing has repercussions beyond the game, both for the team and coach Dan Hurley.

Reputed college analyst John Fanta released a 15 name Midseason Coach of the Year watch list on X. However, the list drew attention online as prominent names were missing, including Dan Hurley.

It is a kick in the face for the legendary coach who had led the Huskies to two back-to-back national titles. Regardless of the struggles that he had been facing this season, there is no doubt that he’s one of the best coaches in college basketball as of now. So for him to get overlooked is a big deal.

But it’s not just Hurley that’s missing. Both UNC head coach Hubert Davis, and Kentucky’s Mark Pope have both been left out of the list. It is not new for the Huskies coach to be looked over, especially after the new book that is coming his way.

Dan Hurley’s off-court ventures, new book?

Even during turbulent times in the season, the UConn coach never stopped putting in the effort. His hard work and perseverance have allowed his Huskies to take a favorable position once more. Two national championships aren’t easy to come by, for sure, and no one would know it better than Dan Hurley.
