Amid a tough time in the James household—intensified by a public confrontation, an ailing Akron Hammer, and Bronny’s deteriorating mental healthBryce seems to have stepped up to the occasion, ready to bring some cheer! As an up-and-coming basketball star behind his brother and father, the 17-year-old is literally on a roll as his team secured yet another victory. And boy did the brothers make sure to enjoy, But before we get to that…

For the unversed: Things have been in a downward spiral for quite a while now. It all started with the NBA veteran drumming up a controversy by confronting Stephen A. Smith on March 6 ahead of a Knicks game. Ticked off at the ESPN veteran for dragging his eldest son through the mud, James was clear in his warning: “Stop f—ing with my son.” Unfortunately, the problem stretches much further, as the whole community has been directing shots at young Bronny ever since the Lakers picked him up 55th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. The one word on everyone’s lips? Nepotism. And it’s bound to bring some heavy repercussions.

In December last year, Bronny, for the first time, acknowledged his struggles in front of the world. “I’ve become resilient over these past couple of years fighting through injuries, mental illness, stuff like that. Just, you know, coming in and working every day and staying the course,” he told Associated Press. If you are in Bronny’s shoes, you might feel how hard it is to be in the limelight. However, he has been thrivingevident from his performance vs the Denver Nuggets on March 14. Though Lakers ultimately lost 126-131, Bronny turned heads with 5 points, 2 rebounds, and one steal (while shooting 1/5 from the three-point range) in 16 minutes of play, garnering him immense appreciation from the community. Now add to that, Bryce’s achievement, and it seems the James brothers are on the right path…

After scintillating victories over Santa Barbara (78-45, March 7) last week and JSerra Catholic (68-64, March 9) this week, the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers dominated the Southern Regional Championship game against Redondo Union, too. They had a confident 74-68 win against the visiting Seahawks, but the road to victory wasn’t easy. A 18-15 first-quarter lead for the Redondo Union Seahawks put Sierra Canyon on high alert. But Bryce James’ team found another gear, responding with a 22-point second quarter, eventually taking home the W. But it wasn’t just a special occasion for the James brothers as the team’s cheerleaders, Jessie and D’Lila Combs also joined in the post-game celebrations, resulting in a viral video that’s captured the community…

The twins were captured in a photo by Quincy, cheering on their high-school basketball team. Moreover, a video surfaced online of Sierra Canyon’s post-game celebrations, showing the Combs twins partying with the team. In the same video, we could see Bronny rooting for his brother and his alma mater! He was even seen leaving the game with his girlfriend, Park Whitfield, after their victory. In the video, the sisters were also captured posing for pictures, with Bryce also posing for several group photos. But that’s not all. Even his parents chimed in with a celebration of their own!

Even though Bryce James didn’t have a great game against Redondo Union, his mom was still in his corner. The six-foot-six Arizona commit has all the tools required to play at the pro level, but he lacks the experience. While he might not be ready for the pros just yet, there’s no doubt that he’s headed in the right direction. Bryce James will walk into Golden 1 Center on Friday with hopes of winning a state title. What do you think? Will the Sierra Canyon team defeat Stockton Lincoln? Or will they fall short? Only time will tell.
