Her battle with metachromatic leukodystrophy began when Maggie Larson was only 3 years old. Maggie, who is currently 6 years old, is taking part in a clinical experiment at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital of the University of Iowa. This experiment offers hope since it might slow down the progression of the disease.
The Kid Captain initiative, which was started in 2009, represents a remarkable collaboration between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The organization’s goal is to honor pediatric patients and remember their brave hearts. And on Saturday, Maggie Larson arrived at the Kinnick Stadium where she got to meet Caitlin Clark.
