As Stanford’s all-time block leader, Cameron Brink brought some defiance against the offensive USC Trojans. While the Cardinals eventually lost to the visitors by a long shot, Cameron kept the team moving forward without throwing the towel easily.

During the entire game which looked more like a tug-of-war when it came to the scores, Cameron stood against the opponents to give them the most out of her horizontal and vertical strengths.

What happened was not an expected outcome. The Trojans definitely brought their best game out against the No. 4 Cardinals. Nevertheless, one player who surely got everyone’s attention was the 6 ft 4 in forward Cameron Brink. After getting the title for the most blocks in Stanford’s history and WBCA Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, she has surely kept her skills up again in this NCAA campaign. She had the complete attention of the Cardinals fans, as one X user shared the clip of the enigmatic Cameron Brink with the caption, “Cameron Brink is having a block party: All are invited.”

However, her defense seems to have broken down in front of the second-most-scoring player of Division I — JuJu Watkins. In the freshman year of her college basketball career, JuJu has already set her name as the next big star in the basketball world. She is making a whopping 25.6 points per game on average this season. Additionally, she has a field goal percentage of 42.2% and a free throw percentage of 82.8% this season. It is incredible how beautifully and effortlessly this freshman dominates the hardwood.

But unlike USC, Stanford still has more players who can score independently and have brought the team to a record of 19-3 this season.

Stanford scorers against USC

Coach Tara VenDerveer has brought an amazing group of basketball talents together. Despite her side losing their latest match, they did stand against the visitors tall and strong. There were two instances when USC was far ahead of Stanford, but the Cardinals still brought the score to a tie. The decent performers for the Cardinals were Kiki Iriafen, Hannah Jump, and Elena Bosgana amongst the many.

While Cameron’s 19 points and 8 blocks could not damage JuJu’s 51 points, she definitely made it clear that she is surely the most defensive player in Standford. Fans can only wait and watch if the Cardinals can make a flight to victory again after a sour loss against the No. 15 Trojans.
