UConn and South Carolina clashing again for the championship title after 2022 while Houston and Florida only meeting for the third time in the history of the tournament—the last leg of March Madness is on full swing. However, the drama had started since the Final Four games! Saturday was a day of upsets as Duke and Auburn, the fan-favorite contenders, lost to Houston and Florida, respectively. Both games were closely contested matchups, and fans could feel the energy behind every possession.

In the Auburn versus Florida game, however, the head coaches had a bit of a run-in with each other. Obviously, it was the Final Four! Everything was on the line for Bruce Pearl and Todd Golden, and harsh words are often exchanged in the heat of the battle.

Commenting on this, surprisingly, was UConn head coach Dan Hurley, who isn’t short on controversy this season for the things he said to officials. No way… What a disgrace! Was his response to national reporter John Fanta’s tweet about the Auburn and Florida head coaches getting into a battle with words.

Of course, Hurley has exchanged his fair share of words with other coaches and officials this season. Particularly, his words to the referees during the Butler game come to mind. “Don’t turn your back on me, I’m the best coach in the f–k–g sport.” He said, and obviously, the reaction wasn’t great.

But ever since then, he has reflected on his attitude and the controversies that surrounded him all season. After a closely contested loss against Florida in the Round of 32, Hurley talked about his plans going into the off-season, and addressed all the buzz surrounding him. “You lose perspective,” the legendary coach said after losing his shot at a three-peat. “You struggle with the ego at times because you’ve been on this incredible run.”

We can’t say for sure the tone behind his tweet, as Hurley isn’t always straightforward with his messages. And as for the two concerned coaches? They shared a respectful handshake after the final buzzer. Dan Hurley, after the second-round loss to Florida, has been able to take a step back from the limelight and focus on rebuilding his team. How is that going? Let’s find out!

UConn will be getting some major prospects this coming season. Three of them made the McDonalds All-American Game, and there’s even a shooter coming in from Australia! Not to mention, we don’t know how many players in the Huskies will decide to stay.

Case in point, UConn star Solo Ball has announced his decision to return for his junior year at the school. This comes a few days after Jaylin Stewart’s decision as well. If UConn can beef up their shooting, and learn from this year’s mistakes, they definitely have a shot at winning their third in four years.

What’s even more exciting is that Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed Jr., two of the centerpieces in this NCAA Tournament run, haven’t made up their minds yet. Their possible return is quite an exciting thought for Huskies fans, as Dan Hurley prepares to run it back once more! Can he win another national title? Only time will tell.
