The Baylor Bears are the incumbent NCAA Basketball champions. They earned this feat after having a near-perfect season. However, trouble may be coming soon for the Bears and their coaching staff.
NCAA Analyst Jeff Goodman suggested that the Arizona Wildcats could push to get Baylor head coach Scott Drew to become their next head coach. While he does admit it’s impossible, the familiarity of having his family around in Phoenix could help tip the scales in this situation.

“How about they go after Scott Drew? I don’t think they do it. I mean, how do you do it after he won a title at Baylor? He’s in Baylor for the long haul. But if there is a swing, why not swing for Scott Drew… Scott Drew would be my first call. He’s a national title-winning head coach. Brother, dad, family just live down the street. Baylor Bears: Would Scott Drew leave his championship team?
The Baylor Bears won’t be the same team they were this season heading into next season. They are losing their best player in Jared Butler and don’t have any game-changing recruits on the way. But what they have going for them is their cohesiveness as a team, especially on the defensive end. That identity has been created by Scott Drew.

However, the argument for him to go to Arizona may be a little compelling. He completed the rebuild at Baylor and can now move to another challenge. But people don’t want to leave the top of the mountain immediately after getting there. It is safe to expect Drew to stay in Baylor for the foreseeable future and try to build a new NCAA dynasty.

With the blue-blood schools struggling last season, there is a power vacuum at the top. Gonzaga will see most of their core leave for the NBA, but Baylor still has a few left. There is more building to be done here, so Scott Drew is most likely to stay around for that ride.
